Clatsop County accepting applications for planning commission

Clatsop County is accepting applications from persons interested in serving on the Clatsop County Planning Commission.

The Planning Commission is the county’s committee for citizen involvement on development and land use issues, such as zoning, natural resources, transportation, natural hazards, economic development, housing, farm and forest lands and coastal zones.

The commission makes land use decisions on conditional uses and subdivisions, and makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on amendments to the comprehensive plan and its implementing ordinances.

The Planning Commission regularly meets in Astoria on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic all meetings are virtual at this time.

The open position is for a term ending on June 30, 2023.

For additional information about the commission’s meetings or responsibilities, please contact Gail Henrikson, Community Development Director, at (503) 325-8611 or ghenrikson@co.clatsop.or.us.

The Board of Commissioners is tentatively scheduled to review applicants at its March 24, 2021, work session, with an appointment tentatively scheduled for April 6, 2021.

Citizen Committee Application forms are available from the County Manager’s office at 800 Exchange St., Suite 410, Astoria, OR, or at https://www.co.clatsop.or.us/county/page/committee-vacancies.
